Chantel Geffen, RMT

Chantel has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2013. She followed Sport and her love for the outdoors to Vancouver Island in 2014 and completed her Bachelors degree in Sport, Health and Physical Education at VIU. Chantel is also a Functional Range Systems Mobility Specialist and a Sport Med BC practitioner.

Chantel has spent many hours travelling with teams, athletes and covering Sporting events. She now spends her time indoors in the treatment room, with a focus on (p)rehab, performance and facilitating relief & motion.

Having a strong interest in learning and empowerment, Chantel has spent time sharing her passion with students at VIU within the Advanced Anatomy Lab, coordinating both functional and palpation labs. Here, Chantel was able to apply her knowledge and passion for the human body in a hands-on, educational setting.

When she's not in Therapist Mode

Chantel loves to be outdoors hiking or soaking in the beautiful Island views. She is a strong advocate for a healthy lifestyle and tries to model this through everyday activities such as trail running, mountain biking, crossfit and rock climbing. She's very grateful for the gift of movement, and will continue to utilize her body in healthy ways. You may find her spending her free time reading research in a local coffee shop.. come say hi!


Treatment style

Chantel has formed a passion for rehab sciences and the facilitation of healing throughout the body using research-based modalities. She uses a variety of techniques that help assist and regain mobility, while also relieving pain and tension such as: Functional Range Systems, Myofascial Release technique, Trigger Point Release technique, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Lower limb Active Release Technique, Intraoral TMJ technique, Isolytic release, PNF stretching, Kinesiotaping & many others.

 

Chantel is dedicated to reviewing recent and relevant research, collaborating with other professionals and increasing her depth of knowledge for better treatment and client success.
