Covid 19 - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Chantel is committed to taking the utmost care in providing a safe, secure and limited exposure environment for us all. Following guidelines put forward by CMTBC, RMTBC, PHO and Worksafe BC, the Chantel has outlined specific Protocols and Procedures both the Therapist and Patients are Required to follow upon returning to practice

• Required: Procedural/surgical or cloth masks will be worn by your Therapist during your appointment when within 2 metres of the patient and changed between each appointment

• Recommended: A cloth or disposable paper mask is encouraged to be worn by the patient. Please bring your own, or a single use disposable mask will be available to you.

• Required: During Supine (face-up) or side-lying treatment, the Therapist must wear personal eye protection/shield

• Depending on comfort (practitioner will have this available for use as needed for the comfort of the patient OR the practitioner): Gloves*

• Depending on comfort (practitioner will have this available for use as needed for the comfort of the patient OR the practitioner): Safety glasses/goggles or shield

*Note Gloves do not offer any protection over regular and rigorous handwashing that is typical of massage therapy practice. Gloves are recommended during cleaning, intra-oral work (as per normal practice), and in the case of cuts or open injuries on the patient or the therapist (as per normal practice). Gloves are always discarded after every use. If the patient is comforted by the use of gloves, they can be used.
